Electronics & Communication Department
Up to the year 1999, this specialty was part of the Electrical and Electronics Department, and the students were to choose at the last three semesters between Electronics and power specialization. But due to the rapid developments in the area of electronics specially computer systems, information and communication technology and the effect of this development on the Yemeni society which become in need of equipped engineers in these disciplines, the University founded the department in October 1999.
The department offers a 5-year program leading to B.Sc. In Electronics & Communication with emphasis on digital electronics and VLSI design, communication technology, information and network technology. The student has to study a total of 178 credit hours. Beside the theoretical Lectures, the students have to do practicals, course projects and one major project for graduation. The Department has two laboratories and efforts are on to acquire two more laboratories so that the requirements for the teaching plan are achieved.
The laboratories are:
1- Electronic and Instrumentation Lab.
2- Digital Electronic Lab.
3- Analog and Digital Comm. Lab.
4- Optical and Microwave Lab.
